Performance

Performing is a completely different skill in itself, I provide children (and adults) the oppurtunity to showcase what they have learnt. It is also acts as a huge catalsyt for motivation and it helps the student develop their self confidence not only on their instrument but on stage and as a person in general.

I run regular student concerts with performers ranging from all ages and levels to give students the oppurtnuity to practice performing.

School Ensemble Programs

Nick is currently teaching Drum Kit and Percussion at Ipswich Grammar School and conducts the IGS Percussion Ensemble.

Nick has run and conducted many different types of musical ensembles over the years at primary schools including Denistone East Public School, Truscott Street Public School, Eastwood Heights Primary School, Boronia Park Public School and at high schools including Epping Boys High School, Marsden High School, Cheltham Girls High School and Riverside Girls High School.

Nick specialises in conducting Guitar and Percussion ensembles but has also had experience conducting Concert and Stage Bands. School ensembles are a great opportunity for students to learn and improve their skills in a group environment with their friends. Ensembles focus on learning new songs, listening to other musicians in the group and being able to play together with multiple different parts, with the goal of performing for their peers at both school and community events.

If your school would be interested in having any of these programs in your school please enquire for details.

Music Made Fun

Music

Learning to play music isn't just how to play but also to read, understand, create and perform in a supportive and encouraging environment. It becomes a lifelong skill and is incredibly enjoyable.

Student Led Learning

A lot of music tutors teach from 1 or 2 books while there is nothing inherently wrong with this method over my years of experience I have found students easily lose interest and focus if they aren’t learning based on their on individual interests. Therefore every single one of my lessons is tailored to the individual student.

Ensembles

I conduct a range of different ensembles from guitar to percussion in both primary and high schools. Ranging from complete beginner bands learning to play their first notes all the way to Eisteddfod winning ensembles who regular perform both at in school and community events.

Skype Lessons

Since moving from my original teaching location for the last 10+ years in Sydney I've had numerous request for students to still continue lessons with me and I therefore opened up the option of having online lessons via Skype. These lessons are best suited for students who already have been playing for at least a year and understand the basic techniques of their instrument.

Blue Card & WWCC

I have a current QLD Blue card (number: 1661263/1), NSW Working With Children Check (number: WWC0014124E) and have lots of experience working with children with special needs and learning difficulties.
